Our client is seeking to employ on permanent basis a Press Operator, Setter / Sheet Metal Worker
Job Purpose:
To work alongside the workshop manager to produce fabricated parts. Right first time. On time. Every time.
Primarily working within the sheet metal department of a rapidly growing business.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
- Operation of press brakes/folding machines (Amada, Cidan).
- General Knowledge of appropriate Punch and Die selection.
- General Knowledge of the complexities of folding.
- Fabrication of predominantly Aluminium components (some Steel and Stainless Steel)
- Working from detailed fabrication drawings to identify materials and processes required to produce items to the customer’s
specification.
- Use of metal working equipment (brake presses), but also guillotines, punches, laser cutters and others during the
fabrication process.
- Ensuring items are finished to the customer’s specification and deadline.
- Proficient in leading others and setting tools and machines for less skilled operators. (Training can be provided)
- General assistance in all areas of the workshop, checking others work and developing processes for the shop floor.
Person Profile:
- Skilled and experienced in metal fabrication, specifically folding sheet metal.
- Flexibility - willing to turn their hand to many different jobs.
- Confidence – ability to work on their own initiative when needed but also to work as part of and lead a team.
Specific Job Skills:
- All Sheet Metal duties including, marking, cutting, bending, forming, drilling.
- Ability to manufacture and build from engineering drawings using brake presses, punches and guillotines.
Personal Development:
Where individuals show an aptitude for development, training and support will be provided in the operation of our CNC Press brakes, laser, milling centre and saws.
Hours
7:00-16:30 Monday - Thursday
7:00-15:30 Friday
Salary
£16-£20 Per Hour Depending on experience paid monthly
Overtime - 1.5 times pay Monday through Saturday. 2 times pay Sunday and Bank Holiday
Holiday
23 days (3 of which must be taken at Christmas) plus Bank holidays
Pension
Client pays in 3% of salary
